COCOON TRAFFIC DEK is designed for application over the Cocoon membrane to protect it from abuse.  This product finds its use on traffic-bearing roof decks, industrial traffic areas, and as a topcoating for Cocoon roofing membranes.  COCOON TRAFFIC DEK has been used extensively on promenade decks, traffic-bearing roof decks, and mechanical room floors, where its excellent abrasion, waterproofing, scuffing, and traction enhancement features are important.

OUTSTANDING FEATURES:

  • Excellent protection to exterior surfaces, including roofing and structural decks, to effectively waterproof and seal against moisture penetration

  • Approved by the Board of Standards and Appeals of New York City (795-57-SM) for use as a roof covering on hospitals, schools, institutions, commercial, and industrial buildings

  • Cocoon has been in practical architectural use for over fifty years

  • Provides traction enhancement in areas where improved foot traffic safety is required

  • Resistant to most environmental pollutants including salts, vehicle fluids and fuels, cleaning agents, lubricants, and coolants

  • Topcoat may be produced in any color, including custom colors that will retain their hue, intensity, and shade for many years

  • Tested by Factory Mutual for combustibility and found to be a fire retardant coating that will inhibit the progress of combustion

APPLICATION:

Caution! READ THIS ENTIRE DATA SHEET BEFORE CONTINUING.

 

Follow all of the application instructions described in the Cocoon 501 technical data sheet, then, soon after the last coat of Cocoon 501 has dried, application of the Cocoon Traffic Dek may commence.  Following are the mixing instructions for Cocoon Traffic Dek:                                                                  

1. Wet out the Traffic Dek in its 5 gallon pail by adding Cocoon solvent in small amounts until mixture is the consistency of dry mortar.

2. Add 3 gallons of Cocoon 560 to the above mixture in small increments while stirring.

3. Continue stirring until full dispersion is  achieved and a uniform consistency is obtained.                               

4. Strain mixture through a screen to trap lumps before spraying.

 SprayCocoon Traffic Dek mixture in the specified manner over the entire surface to be coated until a dry film thickness of 20 mils is achieved.  Cocoon 501 and Cocoon Traffic Dek shall ex-tend up all adjacent vertical surfaces, curbs, columns, etc. to a minimum height of 6 inches.            

Cocoon membrane shall extend over all concrete equipment pads, pedestals, etc.  After the Cocoon Traffic Dek application  has dried, 3 coats of Andek Wearcoat 44 shall be applied.  Read the technical data sheet for Andek Wearcoat 44 and follow all of the application directions described.

LIMITATIONS:

Cocoon and Wearcoat 44 must be protected from inclement weather during application.  Application should cease upon commencement of precipitation.

MAINTENANCE:

Damaged areas may be repaired by cleaning surface with Cocoon Cleaning Solvent and application of coating as described in the technical data sheet.
