Challenge:
The toll booths of the Triboro Bridge in New York City were a waterproofing obstacle course of penetrations and details in a coal tar built-up roof with serious access problems. The challenges were similar to those dealt with on the Throgs Neck Bridge, also within the Triboro Bridge and Tunnel Authority.
Solution:
The RoofdX 20-Year System was used to waterproof, restore, and protect the roofs on this bridge. RoofdX Super is a moisture-cure urethane that, when combined with Roofab stitchbonded polyester forms a composite membrane that is tough, elastic, seamless, and extremely fatigue-resistant. The topcoat for this system is Andek Silver Film, a highly reflective theremoplastic epoxy resin-based coating with excellent longevity and recoatability.
