Andek Firegard®

Durable. Waterproof. Fire-Retardant. Code-Compliant.

Andek Firegard® is a high-performance, water-based intumescent coating engineered to provide superior fire protection and long-lasting durability. Designed for both interior and exterior applications, it forms a powerful ignition and thermal barrier while delivering exceptional waterproofing performance.

Available in 24 standard colors, with custom color matching upon request.

Advanced Intumescent Fire Protection

When exposed to heat or flame, Andek Firegard® expands to many times its original thickness, forming a dense insulating char layer. This thermal barrier helps:

  • Prevent substrate auto-ignition
  • Significantly reduce flame spread
  • Minimize smoke development
  • Limit structural damage

Tested and compliant with recognized fire standards including ASTM E84 (Class A), NFPA 255, and ESR-1172, Firegard® helps bring both new and existing structures into compliance with building and fire codes.

Performance Beyond Fire Protection

Firegard® is more than a fire-retardant coating. It also delivers:

  • Exceptional durability in harsh outdoor environments
  • Waterproofing protection with repeated wash resistance
  • Vapor barrier performance
  • Flexibility in extreme temperatures — remains tough in cold conditions and resists flow in high heat
  • Fungicide protection against microbiological growth
  • Low odor and minimal overspray bounce-back during application
  • Rapid strength development after application

Water-based and non-toxic, Firegard® provides safe and reliable protection without compromising performance.

ANDEK FIREGARD Application Guidelines

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of loose particles, oil, grease, or any contaminants that could interfere with proper adhesion.

Inspect the substrate carefully for damage or defects. Complete all necessary repairs prior to application.

Most non-porous, non-metallic surfaces do not require priming.

  • Metal surfaces should be primed with POLAPRIME 21.
  • Porous surfaces should be primed with POLAPRIME 2.

Ensure all primers are fully dry before applying ANDEK FIREGARD.

Application

ANDEK FIREGARD may be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray.

For standard applications, apply at a rate of approximately 1 gallon per 100 square feet (16 mils wet film thickness, yielding 10 mils dry).

Where enhanced protection is required, apply two coats at 120 square feet per gallon per coat. This results in a combined coverage of approximately 60 square feet per gallon (27 mils wet film thickness, yielding 17 mils dry).

Spray Application

Use a 30:1 airless pump with a 3/8″ short hose and a 33 tip size.

Clean-Up

Clean tools and equipment with water while the material is still wet. If the coating has dried, use an appropriate solvent for removal.

Safety Information
