Silver Film

High-Performance Silver Aluminum Solar Reflective Roof Coating

Silver Film is a premium, single-component, liquid-applied aluminum roof coating formulated to deliver long-lasting solar reflectivity and corrosion protection. Engineered with a high-solids, thermoplastic resin system and automotive-grade aluminum flake pigment, it creates a durable metallic composite layer that maintains its bright, reflective appearance for years.

Designed for both flat and pitched roofs — including areas subject to ponded water — Silver Film provides superior adhesion to metal, asphaltic, and coal tar pitch substrates.

Why Silver Film Stands Apart

Unlike traditional fibrated aluminum coatings, Silver Film contains:

  • No asphalt
  • No fillers
  • 3.5 lbs. of aluminum metal flake per gallon
  • High-grade automotive aluminum pigment

The result is a dense, protective aluminum composite layer capable of delivering 7–10 years of protection in a single coat.

Key Benefits

  • Solar Reflective Performance: Reflects up to 73% of solar heat
  • Energy Savings: Reduces roof surface temperatures and helps lower cooling costs
  • Corrosion Protection: Protects against rust, UV degradation, and acid rain
  • Superior Durability: Outperforms traditional fibrated aluminum coatings
  • Wide Temperature Application: Solvent-based formula applies in varied climates
  • Ponding Water Resistant: Suitable for flat and low-slope roofs
  • Adheres to Rusted Metal: May be applied over properly prepared corroded surfaces
  • Reduces Thermal Cycling: Minimizes roof deck expansion and contraction
  • Non-Re-Emulsifying: Will not wash away with rainwater
  • Recoatable: Easy future maintenance
  • Seven-Year Material Warranty

SILVERFILM Application Guideline

Surface Preparation

  • Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, loose debris, oil, grease, or any contaminants that may interfere with proper adhesion.
  • Do not apply if substrate or ambient temperatures are expected to drop below 35°F (2°C) within 4 hours of application. The surface temperature must remain at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point during application and curing.

Application

Do not apply Silver Film to wet, damp, or frozen surfaces. Application must be protected from precipitation for a minimum of 4 hours.

Stir thoroughly for at least 2 minutes using a low-speed drill prior to application. Do not thin the product.

Apply in two coats using a soft brush, medium-nap roller, or airless spray equipment. Use a smooth, even technique to ensure uniform coverage.

Spray Application

Use a 30:1 airless pump with a 3/8″ short hose and a 17–19 tip size.

Recommended Thickness

3–6 mils dry film thickness (DFT).

Coverage

Approximately 250–300 sq ft per gallon, depending on substrate porosity and surface conditions.

Drying Time

At 80°F (27°C) and 70% relative humidity:

  • Touch Dry: Approximately 36 hours
  • Through Dry: Approximately 10–14 days

Clean-Up

Clean tools and equipment with mineral spirits.

Storage

Store in a dry area away from direct sunlight and protect from freezing. Keep containers tightly sealed.

Shelf life is up to 2 years from the date of manufacture when stored in original, unopened containers between 40°F (4°C) and 90°F (32°C).

Disposal

Dispose of waste in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Incineration is the preferred method of disposal.

Safety Information

Read the product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to use for important health and safety information.

Keep out of reach of children and pets.
