Description
WEARCOAT 44
Penetrating Sealer for Porous Surfaces. Built for Long-Term Protection.
WEARCOAT 44 is designed to penetrate, seal, and protect porous substrates while delivering a tough, glossy, and chemically resistant finish. Engineered for durability, it enhances and extends the life of concrete, masonry, and other absorbent materials by forming a dense, protective barrier that locks out moisture and withstands demanding conditions.
As a high-performance sealer, WEARCOAT 44 penetrates deeply into substrates, sealing pores and reinforcing surfaces from within to create a hardened, long-wearing layer suitable for both pedestrian and vehicular environments. Available in clear or pigmented finishes, it offers excellent hydrolytic stability, UV resistance, and high tensile strength.
The resulting coating resists abrasion, chemical exposure, and environmental wear while maintaining the flexibility needed to accommodate normal substrate movement and thermal expansion, ensuring long-term performance and durability.
Available in 24 standard colors, with custom color matching upon request.
Key Benefits

WEARCOAT 44 Application Guideline
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and completely free of oil, grease, dust, or any contaminants that may interfere with proper adhesion.
Application
- Add Part B (color concentrate) to Part A (clear resin) and mix thoroughly with a low-speed power mixer for a minimum of 3 minutes.
- WEARCOAT 44 may be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray. Apply at a rate of approximately 400 square feet per gallon per coat.
- Use care during application to avoid creating foam or trapping air, which may result in pinholes or hazing.
- For enhanced traction, vulcanized synthetic rubber granules are recommended. SoftSand Rubber (available from Andek) can be applied using either broadcast or mix-in methods, depending on the desired texture. Typical application rate is 1–2 pints per 100 square feet.
Spray Application
Use a 30:1 airless pump with a 3/8″ hose and a 21 tip size.
Recommended Thickness
Approximately 4 mils dry film thickness (DFT) per coat.
Working Time
Approximately 3 hours at 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity.
Drying Time
Approximately 1.5 hours at 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity.
Cure Time
Approximately 24 hours at 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity.
Clean-Up
Clean tools and equipment with xylene while the material is still wet.
Limitations
- Store in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Keep containers tightly sealed, as exposure to moisture may cause premature curing.
- Do not apply at temperatures below 35°F (2°C). Application must be protected from precipitation for at least 4 hours.
- Shelf life is approximately 12 months when stored in factory-sealed containers between 45°F (7°C) and 85°F (29°C).
